Charged under Article 58 of spreading anti-Soviet propaganda, he endured eight years in labour camps and later, was cast into exile. It was here where he condemned all forms of totalitarianism with all his heart through writing and grassroots activism, which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize for sharing his immense trials.
